<span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:blue'>THE SIG / CARD TUTORIAL</span></span>

Hi i'm new out here, but i signed up to give it a try as a graphic staff designer out here @ p3rec3ption.net

In this tutorial we gonna (learn) and create a sig or card wich shows your personal info like name, place, website ect
This tutorial will come out with something basic, but u can edit to get a good sig or card.

<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:blue'>Note</span></span>

- My spelling is quite bad, or even awful so mind me if i make many wrong spellings

- This is my first ever tutorial, on this site, on the www network so if things are not that well explained, plz let me know

- This tutorial is created with ps cs-2 but can be used with olders versions.

- If u want the same results as i do, do the things i do wich will be noted in <span style='color:green'>green</span> colors.

- The <span style='color:blue'>Blue bold</span> text is important text, and must not be avoided at any times

- the <span style='color:red'>red</span> text are tools and the shortcut keys u can use in photoshop (note that these keys are for windows)
i don't know the shortcut keys in mac so i'm srry for all mac users.

- if there are easier, faster or better ways to accomplish the same result pls reply to this thread and let us know

well, here it goes

<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:blue'>Part 1 : Drawning and editing</span></span>

Step 1:

<span style='color:blue'>Open up photoshop</span> <span style='color:green'>(guess thats obvious as it seems to be a photoshop turorial :P)</span>
and start up a new document,

<span style='color:blue'>settings :
height : 200
width : 400
background : white</span>

If u don't know how to setup the settings, use the image below (but i guess u would know that already)

<div class='bbimg'></div>

step 2:

K, now before we begin drawning <span style='color:blue'>set the forground color the color u wish to use.</span>
<span style='color:green'>(i used black or hex code : #292929)</span>

Now, when that's done <span style='color:blue'>create a new layer and call it circle</span>
and take te <span style='color:red'>ellipse tool (u)</span> and draw a <span style='color:blue'>big circle, MUCH bigger than the canvas size</span>

somewhat like the image below

<div class='bbimg'></div>

<span style='color:green'>(u could also have used the elliptical marquee tool and filled the selection with the color u wanted to)</span>

now move the image so te circle is placed something like this:

<div class='bbimg'></div>

step 3:

K, now we have the background, so it's time to add some boxes or bars where u can add some text later.
Take the <span style='color:red'>rectangular marquee tool (m)</span> and <span style='color:blue'>set the properties to fixed size:</span>

and use the following setting:

<span style='color:blue'>hieght : 20
width : 300
</span>

<div class='bbimg'></div>

Now <span style='color:blue'>change the forground color to a brighter color then the one u used before.</span>
<span style='color:green'>(i used white or hex code : #FFFFFF)</span>

now <span style='color:blue'>draw the selection</span> and fill the it with the <span style='color:red'>paintbucket tool</span>
now move the bar somewhere like the image below

(note that i used white color and the bar sticks out a bit, but u cant see it cause of the white background)

<div class='bbimg'></div>

<div class='bbimg'></div>

see, the black part sticks out a bit, but we gonna remove that later using the <span style='color:red'>selection method</span>

now, we need some more of those bars, right ? <span style='color:green'>(at least i do)</span>
k, so <span style='color:blue'>right click on the bars layer and duplicate it a couple of times.</span>

and move the bars so that it sticks out a bit on the left edge of the circle,
something like this:

<div class='bbimg'></div>

<span style='color:green'>(note that i used rules te keep equal space between each bar)</span>

step 4:

now, for the next step we gonna stretch the right edges of the bars so it fits the canvas edge
but before we do that we gonna <span style='color:red'>merge</span> the bar layers,
so select the top layer and press <span style='color:red'>ctrl+e</span>
untill only 3 layers are left wich are :

<span style='color:blue'>the white background layer - the circle layer - and 1 layer including all the bars</span>

your layer window should now look something like this:

<div class='bbimg'></div>

k, now we can stretch the bars.
so grab the <span style='color:red'>single column marquee tool</span> and <span style='color:blue'>place the selection near alle the edges of the bars
like the image below:</span>

<div class='bbimg'></div>

and now press <span style='color:red'>ctrl+t to bring up the free transform tool</span>
now <span style='color:blue'>drag the right edge all out of the canvas erea, like this:</span>

<div class='bbimg'></div>

and finnally press enter to confirm the transform

step 5:

k now we have that ready, so it's time to remove the part that sticks out:

first lets <span style='color:blue'>make a selection around the circle</span>, we do that by <span style='color:red'>ctrl+clicking</span>
the thumbnail on the circle layer

<div class='bbimg'></div>

k, now select the bars layer, and go to <span style='color:red'>select > inverse</span>

<div class='bbimg'></div>

and finnaly press the <span style='color:red'>delete key</span>, and now the part is deleted
now the only thing left to do is <span style='color:blue'>changing the opacity of the bars layer</span>
do thay by changing it's valeu on the layers window
change it to something around <span style='color:blue'>20% - 60%</span>
<span style='color:green'>(i used 30%)</span>

your image should now look something like this:

<div class='bbimg'></div>

step 6:

the final step of this part, we gonna add a stroke to the image
this done very easely by just <span style='color:blue'>creating a new layer</span>
and pressing <span style='color:red'>ctrl+a</span>
now go to <span style='color:red'>edit > stroke</span>
and do the following:

<div class='bbimg'></div>

<span style='color:green'>(u can change to color and the size to anything u want but leave the location to inside
else u wont see the stroke)</span>

your image chould now look something like this:

<div class='bbimg'></div>

now, that was the final step of this part
read the next reply to add effects and costumize the image

<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:blue'>Part 2 : Costumizing and finishing</span></span>

k, lets continue chall we,

step 7:

now <span style='color:blue'>we gonna add some bleding options to the circle layer</span>:
do this by <span style='color:red'>right-clicking</span> the circle layer and chose blending options from the list.

now do the following to get the same effect as i do:

<div class='bbimg'></div>

<div class='bbimg'></div>

now select the bars layer and apply these settings:

<div class='bbimg'></div>

<span style='color:green'>(feel free to play around with the settings to get a better or cooler effect u wish to have)</span>

step 8:

now, i'm not gonna explain this cause i think u know how to do:

now to finish the image u can
<span style='color:blue'>

- add brushes
- add text [color=green](duh)</span>
- add images
- use filters
- reshape somethings
- delete everything
- ...

<span style='color:green'>(just expirement and use your own creation to finish up the image)</span>

this is my final result :

<div class='bbimg'></div>

i added some of my avatars

i typed in my:
name
nick
location
url

i didn't costumized the image itself cause for me it was nice enough

<span style='color:green'>anyhow, now the image is complete feel free to show it around :P

i hope you all enjoyed the tut
and at least understood the turorial (cause of my bad spelling and such)

pls don't send comments like crap and such
this is my first turoial it took me 2 hours to writh it all up,
