Hey guys lol ive been meaning to make this tut for a while lol :P this is one of the few things i know how to do lol in flash. An example of this can be seen on the site in the top left corner where it says P3rc3pt10n. The site version is flash whereas the forum version is a graphic so the forums load faster ok here we go

1) Open a new document in flash and set the frame rate at 20.

2) Use the text tool and write something.

3) Using the black arrow tool click on the text and click Insert->Convert to Symbol or click F8. Now check that it is on Movie symbol and then name it. It does not matter what you name it as long as you remember what it is. Now click ok.

4) Click F11 or click Window->Library. There should be a icon and the name of what you called the previous movie symbol. Double click on it and it should open it.

5) It should now look like this with the background now expanded. Now rename the layer there by double clicking the text which should be Layer 1. Name that layer Mask. Now create a new layer and name that effect. Put the layer Effect under the layer Mask.

6) Now on the layer called effect make a rectangle with no border, does not matter what color it is. Just make sure it is long and tall enough to cover the text.

7) Using the black arrow click on the rectangle you just made and click F8 or Insert->Convert to Symbol. As like before make sure its on Movie Symbol and called it anything you like.

Now it should appear in the library box. Double click on the new movie symbol that you just converted.

9) Now the rectangle should appear in its own area. Click on the rectangle if it is not already selected and fill it in using a linear gradient. You edit the current linear gradient to transparent to white to transparent.

10) Now after you have done that double click on the Movie file that had the text in it. In my case if you have been using the same names, Shine Effect. Now go to the timeline at the top and highlight frame 40 on both layers and right click and insert keyframes.

11) Now click on the Effect Layer and click on the first keyframe. Right click it and click Create Motion Tween. Now go to the last frame in the Layer Effect and right click and click Create Motion Tween. Now go back to the first frame and click on it. Set the Ease at -100 and on the last frame in the layer set it to 100.

12) On Layer Effect still go to the last frame. Select the shine gfx icon [the rectangle] and move it to the other side of the text.

13) Yes lol we are nearly finished lol . Right click on the layer mask and click Mask. You should see everything disappear.

14) Now go back to the original document by clicking Scene 1. Use the text tool again to create the exact same text as you did on the first step. Once that is done with the library still open drag the Shine effect movie clip and place it over the text. If you cannot place it correctly open up the shine effect movie and unmask it and go back to Scene 1 and place it over it.
