Well the thing is First I thought that I needed a router to get my 2 computers to share one connection through the net. Then when I get a switch, (i know that the internet works on SP1 because this computer is on it) the other computer still refuses to retrieve a IP address and what not.
Anyone have a solution that does not have to make me download any third party links and etc. While one computer can fully use the internet, the other one cannot retrieve a static IP for me to use. The Auto Find IP setting in the network connections tab.

I think you may need to get a router instead of a switch.
Unless, you want to get another NIC for your PC, but with Windows, configuring might be a hassle and a half. |

Hmm yeah,, a router might be smarter in automatically configuring the information to the second computer but heres the thing. Even without the router if i Directly connect the computer to th emodem it still refuses to retrieve a IP.
Well I've tested out the switch, and it delievers internet to this current computer. The other computer just doesnt want to obtain a static ip.T_T Service pack 2 can go to hell.
