Any suggestions for other similar cms software?

My site http://www.autismnews.co.uk got hacked

These people make me sick, I get a site hacked about once per month, and it takes about a day to sort it out.

phpNuke is so common that lots of people like to target it for hacking. Moving away from phpNuke would be a good idea. I'm not sure as to alternatives but I believe Joomla (formerly Mambo) is one of the best around and lots of support and addons for it are available.

Mambo/Joomla is definetly the way to go, especially if you have limited technical knowledge. If you are slightly more knowledgable about programming and servers then Drupal (drupal.org) is another possibility. But for sheer volume of addons and templates, and ease of use, Joomla has to be first choice.

Just to update this - in the end we made our own software, and since then we have had no more hacking/script kiddie problems.

That is the best part with developing custom software; it is very hard for the defacers to find the flaws with it as they have not got the chance to look at the source code. Unfortunally not everyone has the knowledge, time or money to get custom software so if that's the case, as James said, check out Joomla! Just remember to make backups often and keep updating to the latest version!

I agree Cigaro. Above everything, your apps are nothing even if patched ... if your apache, php or mysql versions have known exploits (even your mail servers!) - These are much harder to trace and not always the actual app(s) itself.

However, PHPNuke, phpBB and scripts like Alstrasoft E-Friends have known exploits.

Heck, take this forum software for example, sites like net-security.org offer a wide varity of known exploits to php software and other related scripts.

Check it out.

php nuke..is no good...but if you want to use it bad..use sentinel. or just use normal php..but thats hard for some people.

Most third party site scripts will have holes that will be spotted and exploited sooner or later, just some will be more secure than others, or harder to crack. Make sure you go over how to secure php and other mysql data etc. And talk to your host about security.
